Four Day Diary 1976
Cord, paper and glue. Approximately 18 inches in length.
Four Day Diary is a bookwork that pushes the boundaries of the genre. The work is a series of 35 'tabs' glued to a length of cord at five inch intervals, each typed with an entry date or a single word (one black and white photograph is included). The bookwork recounts a disturbing dream and my attempt to make sense of it. The single, tiny image of my face, eyes closed, suggests both sleep and death. Reflecting on this strange work in hindsight, it suggests a transformative period where a part of myself symbolically died while dreaming of another life.
